Convince me why I should buy an Apple MacBook Pro

I need you all to convince me whether to buy an Apple MacBook Pro or a PC equivalent.

Apple MacBook Pro
I've been umming and arring about buying some new mobile tech for a while now, I'm now an Apple man at heart, I swoon at their beautifully designed curves, the new features on the MacBook Pro's and I already have a G5 at home with an Apple wireless network. After years of rolling out what must be 1000's of PC's in my previous roles I am kind of sick of the sight of Windows, that and I have dealt with more issues with Windows errors than most.

But, in the current climate and more specifically my economic profile at the moment, can I justify spending an extra £300-£700 just to get that beautiful piece of technology when I could get a PC laptop for a lot less? Not only that, but I can probably barter a little over a PC laptop, Apple on the other hand are very ridged with their prices.

Looking around I could get a Tosh laptop, the Qosmio G50 10H, which is probably about the same spec as the 15" 2.53Ghz MacBook Pro, for about £1,350 compared to £1,712 for the Apple.

I looked into getting the 2.4Ghz MacBook Pro and then upgrading the RAM to 4Gb, but you can't upgrade the video card to the 512Mb nvidia card, something I think I would notice over the .13Ghz gain on the processor.

Obviously it all depends on what I am going to use the laptop for and whether I can even justify the Toshiba let alone the MacBook Pro! The majority of the time it would probably text based applications, ie writing. That said, I also use Creative Suite and other applications, specifically InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver, all processor and RAM heavy applications, so yeah I think I can justify it.

Whatever I buy is also likely be used for client meetings and presentations, this considered "looks" need to be part of my purchase decision process. I love the new aluminium casing and the screen design on the new MacBook Pro's and the black keyboard looks a world better and less likely to tire than the original silver keyboard.

Part of my fear of getting a PC laptop, is not the hardware, but the OS, until Apple's latest OSX release I'd never suffered from any issue to note. Windows on the other hand, particularly it's recent Vista release has been plagued with issues. Of course I could install some bred of Linux on an Intel based machine, but then its application compatibility issues.

I know it's sounds like I've made my decision already, but I wouldn't mind some opinions on this matter. What do you use? How do you find it? Would what people have seen of Windows 7 change my mind?

So go on convince me, what should I buy?
