The Reading Room was built in 1922 and is registered as a Friendly Society for providing for its members “the means of a society & mutual helpfulness mental & moral improvement & rational recreation”. Members pay a £1 subscription per year and can normally use it for recreational purposes on Thursday evening.
The Hall in the centre of the village is available for hire and is used by the following organisations currently:
- General social occasions.
- Women ’s Institute.
- Nursery Education.
- Oddfellows Society
- Beckermet Village Association.
- Beckermet Local History Group
- St John ’s and St Bridget ’s Parish Councils
